Math with Meena Negandhi

Since 2018, the FAA has worked with Math in the City to implement math routines. To continue to strengthen our math curriculum and prepare our 8th grade students to Algebra 1, Meena Negandhi has joined the FAA this year.

Meena has been teaching math in private schools in NYC since 2003 and is currently teaching math & science in all grades of Middle School. Furthermore, she supports students in small groups of instruction.

Meena has moved from India to the States in 2001, and after 2 years in San Francisco she reached the East Coast in Jersey City. Since then, she is actively involved in the community and non-profit organizations. She guided her students into the implementation of a Food and Coat Drive this winter.

Meena is also passionate about the environment and launched the recycling program in the Middle School Cafeteria.

Meena, what does the FAA mean to you?

New energy, openness, kindness, very French

Tell us more about you…

  • If you were a city: New York City
  • If you were a meal: all Asian food, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc.
  • If you were an activity: Reading
  • If you were an animal: Peacock
  • If you were a book: “Bhagwat Gita”

What has been your best moment at the school?

Every “ahah” moment of a child, the time when finally, something makes sense!
But, actually, it can be anything that would make the kids happy. A smile on a teenager’s face brightens your day.

What is your motto?

“Why not?” is my favorite quote.
